Beth & Devin in Vineland, Ontario
Beth and Devin toured some of Niagara’s most charming chateaus before unanimously deciding on the Vineland Estates. "It was just so beautiful," Beth says.
Beth was also lucky enough to design her dream wedding gown with Derek Lam, a designer she works for. "It was such a wonderful experience to see how the gown developed from start to finish," Beth says. The slim-fitting dress made of heavy satin featured a deep V-neck and tiers of ruffles along the hemline. Beth wore a matching georgette jacket with ruffled sleeves and hand-applied lace. The five bridesmaids wore custom-made Derek Lam dresses.
Working in a creative field, Beth had a pretty clear sense of the look and feel she wanted at her wedding from the very beginning --clean and contemporary with a slight Asian twist. She decided on a chocolate brown, blush pink, and white color scheme and used these hues in everything from the invitations to the bridesmaid dresses to the favors.
The three-tier vanilla and orange cake with blush-pink fondant icing was decorated with cymbidium orchids.
Asian touches were all around. Before the ceremony began, the couple provided parasols for guests to shield themselves from the sun, though in the end, they were more useful as rain umbrellas! The white aisle runner was lined with bamboo stakes and beautiful greenery that flanked the platform where the intimate ceremony was performed.
As guests moved to the reception, white paper lanterns hung from the tent ceiling and white sparkling lights illuminated the base of the tent. Dark wood platters were placed at every table setting, showcasing the couple‘s exotic blooms -- pink cymbidium orchids -- and tiny cocktail umbrellas served as place cards. There was also a single white orchid surrounded by tiny votive candles and scattered river rocks on the center of each table. "I wanted tables to reflect the contemporary style of our wedding," Beth explains.

Beth and Devin dated for seven years before Devin proposed one summer evening at sunset on the dock behind his cottage. The couple, who met at summer camp and began dating one year later as students at McGill University, soon began planning a dazzling destination wedding in Ontario, Canada.

Having first connected at summer camp, Beth and Devin agreed it was only appropriate that their location reflect their love of the outdoors. The couple, who live in New York City, set their sites on our neighbor to the north and visited several picturesque lakeside cabins and scenic golf courses throughout Ontario. After being introduced to the delicious wines produced in this region by their parents, however, Beth and Devin changed directions. "It just hit us one day," Beth explains. "It would be the ultimate mix of incorporating the outdoors and real elegance to hold our wedding at a vineyard!"
