Jennifer & David in Camarillo, CA
The ceremony took place on the lower level of the Victorian estate. Just before the harvest, guests were surrounded by vines still bearing huge clusters of Syrah grapes. Two olive trees at the top of the stone stairs also framed the bride and groom.
The bride carried a bouquet of orange and russet roses, tulips, Mokara orchids, cymbidium orchids, and lots of mini calla lilies. To give the bouquet more texture and to complement the fall-themed wedding, the florist twisted bittersweet branches and montbretia among the flowers.
The bridesmaids carried bright bouquets of orange, rust, and red blooms for contrast against their chocolate dresses. The bouquets combined various-colored calla lilies with poppy pods, berries, celosia, and montbretia, fastened with chocolate silk ribbon.
The couple made their grand entrance to Coldplay’s “Yellow” and danced their first dance to Ben Harper’s “By My Side.”
The four-tiered off-white cake featured dark brown vines climbing up its sides. Each tier’s base was wrapped in brown ribbon, and the florist added bundles of berries and branches to match the centerpieces.

Jennifer and David were each out celebrating different friends’ birthdays at the very same club. Both love to dance and, since they were with the only two parties there, Jennifer and David found themselves all alone on the dance floor. Later, he asked her for her phone number and then, sensing her hesitation, offered her his. She called him the very next night, and they have not gone a day without speaking since.

The Bride Jennifer Smoyer, 26, art teacher
The Groom David Roberts, 27, aircraft charter dispatcher
The Date September 29

For their four-year anniversary, David took Jennifer to the Hotel Finistera in Cabo San Lucas. The night of their anniversary, the hotel set up a private dinner table for two on the beach with candles, tiki torches, and rose petals spread across the table and over the sand. After dinner, David got down on one knee, and this time there was no hesitation from Jennifer as David asked if he could spend the rest of his life with her.
