Liane & Bennett in Anchorage, AK
Liane carried a bouquet of roses, hydrangeas, and orchids accented with feathers, crystals, and a lily.
Liane’s bridesmaids wore chiffon, knee-length dresses in cranberry, and carried bouquets of roses, cymbidium orchids, and green hydrangeas.
Bennett and his groomsmen donned black tuxedos. Bennett stood out in a white tie. A red rose boutonniere completed each guy’s look.
Liane created labels for the water bottles included in the welcome bags for the couple’s out-of-town guests.
Liane designed the monogram that appeared on the ceremony programs, which she had printed on ivory card stock at FedEx Kinko’s. The back of each program included lyrics to her processional song -- “Divide Me,” by folk singer and guitarist Kalai, who performed at the ceremony.
Liane and Bennett were married at First United Methodist Church.
The wedding reception was held in the Anchorage Museum’s atrium beside a shallow pool.
Because Liane and Bennett hosted a heavy hors d’oeuvres and dessert reception, the centerpieces featured chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate-dipped shortbread. The sweets sat on glass plates, and arrangements of roses, kangaroo paw, orchids, and feathers in ice-cream sundae glasses finished the tablescapes.
The couple shared their first dance as husband and wife to Michael Buble’s version of “Everything.”
Liane and Bennett’s white fondant-covered wedding cake was accented with raspberry and lime diamonds, stripes, and polka dots.
Towers of raspberry and pistachio mousse sat on either side of the wedding cake and matched the cake’s colors.
Guests left Liane and Bennett’s wedding with one of the couple’s favorite cookies, which they bought from their high school. Guests chose from ginger molasses, snickerdoodle, marble, and monster cookies.

Liane and Bennett became friends as soon as they met in high school, when Liane was a senior and Bennett was a junior. They both had significant others until the end of that school year, but soon after, they went on their first date.

One day, Bennett suggested he and Liane take a hike to watch the sun set, which doesn’t happen until close to midnight at that time of the year. Bennett proposed to Liane at dusk, over two cups of sparkling cider. She said yes, and the two began planning an Alaskan wedding.
