Alyssa & Heath in Baltimore, MD
The bridesmaids‘ rose, freesia, dahlia, and craspedia bouquets starkly contrasted with their espresso-colored gowns. For a softer look, the bride carried the same flowers minus roses and plus lime cymbidium orchids and white stephanotis.
A corner window showed off the couple‘s sophisticated monogram. It packed a more powerful punch than it would have if it appeared in the center or directly on the cover.
The Peabody Library was the perfect backdrop for the couple‘s "vintage with a splash of modern" style. They kept the décor simple so it wouldn‘t detract from the space‘s amazing architectural features.
For a modern twist on the centerpiece, pinecones and craspedias filled large apothecary jars in the middle of each table.
Alyssa and Heath drove all the way to New York City to get their guests their favorite vanilla sponge cake with chocolate filling cupcake from Crumbs. They adorned each treat with a mini bride-and-groom topper.
The bride‘s family shared their favorite snack food with a pretzel bar. It featured a wide assortment of the salty treats, like chocolate-covered and peanut butter–filled ones.

A fifth year of college was well worth the cost for Alyssa. Most of her friends had already graduated when she was in the final year of her architecture program, so she became closer with the seniors in her sorority and in the sibling fraternity, including Heath. The two were dating by spring semester, but didn’t plan to get serious because they had already accepted jobs in different states. They changed their plans. Eventually, Alyssa moved to be near Heath.

The Date November 8

They dated for nearly three years until one snowy night. Heath sent Alyssa on a scavenger hunt before their dinner date. The final stop on the hunt: their candlelit apartment where Heath was on bended knee, holding a ring. Overjoyed, Alyssa said yes. When they got to the restaurant, Alyssa learned that Heath had arranged for both sets of parents to travel 300 miles—in the snow—to celebrate the couple's good news. The Connecticut-based pair looked to the bride’s home state of Maryland for their wedding which mixed modern and vintage elements a year later.
