Velvet ribbon and pearl pushpins dressed up Jen‘s bouquet of lisianthus, freesias, roses and cymbidium orchids.
The couple exchanged traditional vows beneath a white iron arbor set up on the concrete apron outside of the hanger. As a thank-you, they gave the arbor to their officiant, Thor‘s close family friend, to put in his garden.
Hot air balloons were tied to ropes, so that guests could enjoy a view from up high during the reception. Jen and Thor took the first turn!
Jen asked Thor‘s mom to help her spray paint wooden planes as a way to spend time together before the wedding. They wrote each guest‘s name and table number on one wing and attached a sticker with the couple‘s logo to the other.
Flowering pear trees with strings of lights gave an outdoor feel to the hanger. Candles and paper lamps from IKEA also casted a warm glow to the big open space.
Four terra cotta pots filled with roses, cymbidium orchids, cockscomb and dahlias decorated every table, while some also has modern candelabras.
Three tiers of carrot cake, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with buttercream gave height to a smaller bride-and-groom cake decorated with cymbidium orchids.
Jen and Thor splurged on a 10-piece band for their celebration, and grooved to their rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight," for the first dance.

Jennifer and Thor met at Boston University, so it was only fitting that Thor included the couple's Boston terrier (a tribute to their alma mater’s mascot) when he proposed.

After eight years of dating -- most of which was long distance -- Jen knew a ring was on the way, but she was completely caught off guard when Thor got down on one knee while they were walking the dog together. "I always thought I'd cry, but I was just so surprised, I kept saying, ‘Stop it!" and "Get out!" She eventually fit "Yes" in there as well, and a little over a year later, the couple married at a small New Jersey airport owned by Thor’s family.
