Shauna & Randy in Tahoe City, CA
Shauna walked down the aisle wearing a candlelight silk-satin chiffon gown with a balloon hemline and a sweep train by Amy Kuschel Bride. The straps became a sash that flowed down the back of the dress, lining the open back, and a small fabric flower rested where the right strap met the neckline.
While Shauna and Randy exchanged vows in the picturesque back yard of a lakeside home, four of their artistic friends captured the scene on two easels. Though the couple isn‘t Jewish, they married under a huppah strung on fishing line, "so it appeared to be floating over us," Shauna says. Shauna and Randy took communion during the ceremony, and also washed each other‘s feet before their 200 guests. "We wanted to start our lives together with a symbol of serving each other and being humble towards one another," Shauna says.
"I often received bouquets with lilies throughout our dating years, so I knew my bouquet would be star gazer lilies," Shauna says. Her bridesmaids carried bouquets of white Asiatic lilies tied with pink ribbon.
Shauna and Randy‘s guests then moved to the Granlibakken Resort and Conference Center, where alternating white table linens were covered with pink or gold tulle and a layer of pink or gold organza. In the middle of each table, fish bowl-shaped centerpieces were filled with natural rocks from local beaches and pink flowers. "For our guests to have a chance to share in the creativity of the day, we had fabric crayons and six-inch squares for everyone to decorate," Shauna says. "My goal is to iron the squares onto fabric and make a quilt out of them."
The four-tier cake was made with two delicious flavors: chocolate fudge cake with a cappuccino mousse ganache and ribbon of soft cafe caramel filling, or butter cake with fresh four-berry cream. The confection was decorated with pink Asiatic lilies to stay consistent with Shauna and Randy‘s theme.
Shauna and Randy sent their guests home with small organza bags of wildflower seeds, with a leaf bearing the couple‘s names attached to the drawstring. "We wanted the seeds to represent our prayer that they would experience faith, hope, love, and prosperity in the years to come," Shauna says.

The Date August 28

When Randy invited Shauna to a picnic at their favorite place to ski and snowshoe, she had a feeling he was up to something special. "When I saw some friends of ours running down a trail trying to hide, I got pretty confused," Shauna says. They came to an aspen grove and found a table and two chairs decorated with scattered flowers, and there Randy got down on one knee and proposed.
