ABOUT COLLEEN
I'm 25 years old and a management analyst with the National Institutes of Health. My fiance and I also have our own financial services business through Primerica Financial Services. It's great to be able to work with your soulmate! I was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut and moved to Germantown, Maryland the summer before my 11th grade in high school.
My interests include reading, writing short stories, listening to music, watching sports, going to nightclubs and other exciting evenings on the town. If I'm not doing these things with my fiance Jerald, then I'm doing them with my twin sister, Charysse and our other friends. My ultimate in relaxation is spending an evening with Jerald doing absolutely nothing but watching digital cable!
ABOUT JERALD
Jerald is a 25 year old financial coach with Primerica Financial Services. He loves helping families achieve their goals and dreams through our business. He is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland in the third grade. He loves mentoring others, lifting weights, watching sports (especially the New York Giants) and spending endless hours with his fiance - me!
HOW WE MET
We met about nine years ago in Watkins Mill High School in 1994. We had several classes together -Chemistry, French and Law. We really started to get to know one another in 1995 during French class. One day I came to class on crutches. I was feeling a little down. He came up to me and asked how I broke my leg starting calling me "Cripp" (short for crippled) and this began our affectionate relationship:) He instantly made me feel better about my injury and using crutches. I knew there was something different and special about him and wanted to get to know him better.
One day in 12th grade he asked my twin sister Charysse if I had a boyfriend. He then told her that he was going to ask me out. So of course Charysse came back to me and told me about their discussion. I was excited to find out that he liked me and he asked me out in the hallway after our law class. Our first date was the movies. We went to see the critically acclaimed film, "Vampire in Brooklyn". The rest his history!

HOW IT HAPPENED
On Christmas Eve I got the best surprise ever! That afternoon Jerald told me that the present he was planning on getting me fell through at the last minute so what he had for me was rather small. So I wasn't expecting much. That evening we went to his mother's house for dinner. Jerald insisted that we open our presents after we left his mother's house on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning. I'm used to opening my presents on Christmas Day so I gave Jerald some hesitation. But I ended up agreeing to his plan, oblivious to what was about to happen later on that night.
When we got back to his house after a wonderful dinner at his mother's house, he gave me a big gift box that looked like a five-year old had wrapped it. “What could this be?” Inside the box were some pictures and a pair of sunglasses. Now I was really confused and getting a little upset. Little did I know, I was falling deeper into his plan. Jerald told me that I had to put on the sunglasses to look at the pictures. So totally confused I did as he asked and began to look at the pictures. As I went through each one I began to get even angrier because they were miscellaneous pictures of nothing - his house, a close up of his face, etc. But the sixth picture made me stop dead in my tracks. It was a picture of the ring. I still didn’t get it until I flipped to the seventh picture (for the number of years we have been together) and there was Jerald down on one knee in his living room with the ring box in the palm of his hand. I looked up and before me was the same scene that was in the picture. Jerald was on one knee with the ring box in his hand. “I love you so much. I want you to be my brother’s sister-in-law, my father and mother’s daughter-in-law and my wife. Will you marry me”? I was totally shocked and could hardly speak words. In fact Jerald, said, “Are you going to answer my question?” “Yes,” I shouted and hugged him tightly, never wanting to let him go. Later I found out that the sunglasses were essential so I wouldn't get blinded by the bling-bling (the diamond in the ring) :)

ABOUT THE BIG DAY
Our wedding ceremony and reception will be an adult affair. Our wedding will take place at 12:00 p.m. on April 24th at The People's Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. We are expecting between 150-175 people. Our reception will take place at Martin's Crosswinds from 2 - 6 p.m. Our wedding party consists of a best man, three groomsmen, a maid of honor, three bridesmaids, hostesses, ushers, two flower girls and one ringbearer. We want our day to be memberable, exciting and fun as Jerald and I start our new lives together.
