KRISTIN SLADEN & DAVID TODD AUGUST 27, 2005 Newlyweds for 1627 days! ABOUT KRISTIN Kristin grew up on the shores of Saco Bay in lovely Saco, ME. She left behind the ocean for the snowy hills of Syracuse, NY, where she received a BS in Photojournalism from Syracuse University. A week after graduation she made her way to DC for a photo assistant job at USA Today. A year and half later she joined AOL and over the next four years worked her way up to manager of the kids and teens photo editing team. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, crafting and spending time with friends and, of course, Dave and Buster. ABOUT DAVID David spent his childhood years in Richmond, VA, playing soccer and football and generally not coming home until the sun went down. He attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He followed in his brother's footsteps, majoring in Integrated Science and Technology (computer science). David started at SRA in Fair Oaks, VA, after graduation, but spent much of his work week in Austin, TX. Shortly after meeting Kristin, he got a job that required no travel at MITRE in McLean, VA. He is currently working on a project for MITRE in Annapolis Junction, MD, for the Transportation Security Administration. An avid mountain biker, David won't even let a little thing like snow keep him off the trails. HOW WE MET Kristin and David met on a street corner the weekend before David's 24th birthday. Earlier in the evening, Kristin spotted a jovial (to say the least) group of guys walk a few blocks ahead of her. One of the bunch wore an afro wig, causing Kristin to say to her friend Sarah, "Those guys look fun. We should be hanging with them." Not giving it much more thought, Kristin and Sarah proceeded to concert further down the street. Walking back to the car after the show, Kristin and Sarah were stopped (aka harrassed) by a boisterous young man. Sensing his friend was in over his head, Dave swooped in as damage control. They chatted, and a minute later, the afro wig made a reappearance. Low and behold, they were the same group of guys Kristin had seen earlier in the evening, and Dave had been the one actually wearing the wig. The group continued up to the Silver Diner for food and more conversation. Despite spilling a full glass of water on his lap, Kristin still agreed to see him again on his birthday a few days later. Lucky Dave :-P WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED October 1, 2004 HOW IT HAPPENED Above all, Dave wanted to surprise Kristin and she did NOT make it easy. The two were going on a weekend camping trip, and Dave was picking Kristin up at work. Kristin heard a knock on her door, and turned to see Dave standing there wearing an afro wig. Not really thinking anything of Dave wearing a wig, Kristin asked "How did you get in the building?" At that moment, she realized Dave was wearing the same outfit he wore the night they met. He held a mug from the pub he was at that night. He tipped it over and out slid a ring box. He got down on one knee and asked Kristin to be his wife. She was stunned and completely overjoyed! WHEN & WHERE August 27, 2005
