ABOUT LISA
Lisa was born in Washington, DC in the United States and moved with her family to Brazil when she was 2. She had a wonderful time there and graduated as a Nutritionist from the University of Brasília in 1996. She moved to Baltimore, MD in the United States in 1997 for graduate work in International Public Health Nutrition at Johns Hopkins University and spent 2 years living in Mexico to collect data for her thesis. While in Baltimore she was 'adopted' into Andy & Sheila Hofert's family and became 'Auntie Lisa' to their beautiful children, Anisa and Adam. Lisa enjoys working with babies and dancing and has done a bit of both. Upon graduating in 2003, she moved to Carrboro in North Carolina for a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina. Lisa also moonlights as Farzad's Portuguese/Spanish teacher.
ABOUT FARZAD
Farzad was born in Tehran, Iran, and moved with his family to England when he was 7. He had (and is still having) a wonderful time there and graduated as an Architect from DeMontfort University in 1998. He completed his Masters at the University of Greenwich in 2000. Farzad enjoys art, photography and travelling and was present at the inauguration of the beautiful Bahá'í Lotus temple in India. He has even ridden an elephant in Sri Lanka! Farzad lives in Brighton, in the United Kingdom and works at Hazle McCormack Young in Tunbridge Wells. Farzad also moonlights as Lisa's Farsi teacher. She thinks he is the most thoughtful, kind and generous person ever!
HOW WE MET
Lisa and Farzad met through Farzad's family. His maternal Aunt, Shahla, is also the mother of some of Lisa's Baltimore family (Sheila & Shaheen). Lisa often rubbed elbows with Farzad's family and heard about him over the years. When they finally made the connection sparks flew, and even the Atlantic Ocean couldn't keep them apart! A million e-mails, phone calls and adventures later, they are getting married!
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

HOW IT HAPPENED
The day after her arrival in the United Kingdom, Farzad took Lisa to the furthest spot of the pier in Brighton on a beautiful crisp, sunny day, and proposed to her on bended knee! She immediately said "YES" and the rest is history!

ABOUT THE BIG DAY
The wedding will be held at Green Acre Bahá'í School in Maine, U.S.A. (for more information see www.greenacre.org), after which Lisa will join Farzad in the United Kingdom.
