Newlyweds for 1317 days!
ABOUT LACEY
Lacey recently moved to California after graduating Northwestern in June 2005. She received a B.A., double majoring in Mathematical Methods in
Social Sciences and Economics. She is working as a consultant for Accenture, and is working on a healthcare project. Lacey enjoys working in downtown San Francisco and has a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Ferry building from the office. When not working, Lacey spends her free time sewing and trying to perfect her (really bad) tennis stroke.
ABOUT JEFFREY
Jeff graduated from Northwestern in June 2004 with a B.A. in Biology. Jeff is in his second year at Stanford working on his Ph.D. in microbiology. He is studying Tularemia, which is a disease similar to Plague and also has bioterrorist implications. Jeff has enjoyed living in California for the last two years and exploring the Bay Area. It's a lot more fun now that Lacey has joined him out on the West Coast. When not in lab, Jeff likes to take in all the different scenery the area has to offer. He also tries to stay active by participating in IM sports at Stanford and playing tennis and ice hockey. Jeff has even become a true Californian by taking up rock climbing.
HOW WE MET
When we were in high school, we were set up for the Blind Date Dance. Our blind date was arranged by roommates/friends. We would like to thank Emi, Dean, Drew and Helena (and anyone else who was involved). In order to find one another, it was decided that Lacey should dress as a fisherman and Jeff should carry a (fake) fish and put the fish on Lacey's fishing pole. Jeff thought the fisherman outfit was a bit dorky but thinks that Lacey cleaned up nicely. (Pictures of Lacey the fisherman will never be seen!!!!) Before the Blind Date Dance, Jeff and Lacey, along with Chailee and Mike, had dinner at TGIFridays. Lacey and Jeff had a good time at the dance and Lacey proceeded to send emails to Jeff for the next month until he asked her out again.
Our next date was a dorm-sponsored trip to the Chicago Auto Show. After the oh so romantic date, Dean told Jeff about a Chinese tradition involving a bike (maybe Dean knew something we didn’t at the time…). According to Dean, a bike is given to the person who sets up a couple when the couple gets married. Every once in a while since then, Dean has asked when he would get his bike…
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
February 12, 2005
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lacey had a sorority formal last February and Jeff convinced her that he was not going to be able to make it (he was in California), but insisted that she should go to the formal anyways. He suggested she take Charles, a mutual friend. Unbeknownst to Lacey, Jeff was scheming to surprise her. Lacey's friend Tracy was given the task of making sure that Lacey asked Charles to formal. So Lacey asked Charles to formal and Charles said yes (he already knew Jeff would be surprising Lacey). The day of the formal, Lacey was on the phone with Jeff while he was “walking home from lab”. Two seconds later, he walked into Lacey’s room. Lacey was surprised (and shocked) to see Jeff. Lacey had been asking for her Valentines Day card for a week, and Jeff said Lacey couldn’t have her card yet, but she could have the present at that time. Jeff handed Lacey a (pretty big) box. In the box was a card was said: Six years ago to the day, Dean told me of a Chinese tradition involving a bike. And tonight it is time we give Dean what he deserves for making me the luckiest guy in the world. Inside the box was a model bike (that Lacey proceeded to play with). Jeff told Lacey that the bike was a present for Dean , but that he had a present for her as well. He proceeded to get down on one knee and asked Lacey to marry him. Lacey said yes (no shock there) and they were off to the sorority formal to show off her sparkly new diamond ring.
WHEN & WHERE
July 3, 2006
Wheaton, IL
ABOUT THE BIG DAY
When planning our wedding, we wanted to make sure both our faiths represented in the ceremony because religion has helped shape who we are through the years. The ceremony will be co-officiated by Pastor Ken Ritchie and Rabbi Michael Tillman. Readings and prayers during the ceremony will reflect both the Protestant and Jewish traditions.
To accomodate both of our religions' observances, we have chosen to be wed on a Monday at the picturesque Danada House. The ceremony will be held in the gardens next to the old farm house and the reception will be held inside the house.
