HOW IT HAPPENED
Al and I went to Los Gatos to spend Christmas at his brother's house. I'd never been to California, so Al booked a room in San Francisco for one of the nights we were out there.
Al wanted to take me on a picnic overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, but the weather wouldn't cooperate. Instead we spent the day exploring Pier 39. After dinner we went for cocktails at the Top of the Mark overlooking San Francisco. The view was breathtaking!
We were talking over drinks, when the next thing I knew Al was on one knee with a ring in his hand!
We both got very emotional. When we'd had a chance to collect ourselves we ordered a bottle of Champagne to celebrate.
