Newlyweds for 525 days!
ABOUT CASSIDY
I was born and raised in Belleview, FL. I graduated from Belleview High School in 2005 and then moved away to Graceville, FL to attend The Baptist College of Florida. I graduated in May 2007 with my AA in Music and then transferred to The University of North Florida to continue my education in psychology. I plan on graduating in May 2009, Lord-willing, with my BS in Psychology. I feel called by the Lord to offer hope and inspiration to others through both music and counseling.
ABOUT JOSH
Josh was born in Oklahoma City, OK. He moved around a lot growing up, but likes to call Florida his home. He attended Brevard Community College and played basketball there for a year and a half before transferring to Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball there as well, while beginning to work on his BA in Youth Ministry.
After only one semester at TFC, he felt God calling him to minister to a youth group in Iron City, GA where his older brother, Jeff, served as pastor. Josh packed up his stuff once again and headed to The Baptist College of Florida to continue his education and took on a part-time position as Student Pastor at Iron City Baptist Church. He graduated in December 2006 with a BA in Christian Education and accepted a call to Celebration Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL as the Student Pastor, where he presently serves.
HOW WE MET
Well, if you were to ask Josh...we met a couple weeks after I moved to Graceville, in the gym, while I was shooting some hoops. He supposedly came up and talked to me, joking around that I should've played in the "WNBA". However, I do not recall that particular moment with him. :(
We did officially meet however, a few months in to my first semester at BCF. I had met a few of his close friends, and eventually his name started to come up. I began wondering who this "Josh Robinson" was.
One afternoon, my flag football team was playing his flag football team. After scoring two touchdowns in a row...he finally caught my eye! I thought to myself, "Someone has got to stop that guy!" and then, "Oh wait, he's pretty cute." Haha! After that game, I began seeing him all over campus. We started hanging out with mutual friends to play tennis and eventually he started "facebook" messaging me, which led to emails, which led to phone calls, which led to a first date...which then led to a second and third and so forth!
The rest, they say, is history. :)
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
February 14, 2008
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was to be our third Valentine's Day together and Josh decided that he was going to make the whole day a "surprise"! The only thing he told me was to "be ready by 4:15 and bring your guitar." I was excited, to say the least. Josh knows I love surprises!
Anyways, he picked me up right on time. And boy was I ready! I was thrilled to see what we were going to do for our special Valentine's date. He told me as we were driving that we were going to the beach! How fun! We both are extreme beach lovers.
Once we got there, he laid down a nice, red sheet and started spreading red and yellow rose petals all over it! How romantic, I thought! My hopes for a proposal were pretty slim though, because I was certain that there was no possible way he had asked my dad yet. I figured he was just being romantic for Valentine's Day.
After a few moments, he asked that I play a few songs on my guitar. One song in particular was called "The Journey", I had written it about our relationship a few months back. After I sang and played, he grabbed it and started singing, "You are so beautiful...to me!" It was lovely. :)
After singing, Josh asked if I wanted to build a sand castle. I smiled at the idea! After making a pretty huge mound, I went for more sand only to find a bottle sticking up out of the dirt! What is that? I thought. Josh started smiling and told me to grab it, so I reached down and pulled it out of the sand. It was a message in a bottle!
Josh had written a special message on a beautiful parchment-type paper. The last line of the message said, "Now, I have one more question for you..." When I looked up, Josh was on his knee and asked if I would marry him! My reply..."Yes, of course!!"
:) :) :)
