HOW WE MET
Paul and Apryl met on September 15, 2006 at Bahama Breeze restaurant. Apryl was invited to lunch by her co-worker and good friend Angelena who was planning to meet up with some of her friends from Marketing. Paul came with his co-worker and best friend Jermaine. The two were introduced but not much was said after that. The following Monday when Apryl returned to work, her friend Angelena told her that Paul had asked about her after she left. Moments later Paul sent Apryl an e-mail to express how nice it was to meet her during lunch. After a few e-mails back and forth to each other over a couple of weeks, the two finally decided to meet after work for dinner. They went to the Cajun Steamer and had a wonderful time. Over the next couple of months the two went out a few times and began dating exclusively on December 21, 2006.
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
January 18, 2008
HOW IT HAPPENED
Friday, January 18, 2008 I woke up feeling refreshed, alive and simply great. It was almost as if I knew that something special was about to happen. I had visited the hair salon the day before and had gone to the spa to get a facial 2 days before that. I looked and felt amazing. My day at work was stress-free and I was anticipating seeing Paul later that evening to spend some good quality time together. Around 2p.m. I called Paul just to check on him and see how his day was going. To my surprise, he was in a terrible mood. I asked him what was wrong and he quickly responded, "Nothing Apryl". I could tell by the sound of his voice that he wasn't having a good day. This disappointed me a little, so I suggested that we go out to dinner after work. I tried to cheer him up, but it just didn't seem to work. He then went on to tell me that he had to attend a church service after work and wouldn't be free until later. Still a little disappointed by his attitude, I told him to just call me once he was done and we could decide where to go for dinner then.
Once I got home, I called my parents just to touch basis with them and see how their day went. My mom answered the phone and she sounded a little strange. I knew that she and my father were planning on going to the movies (something they had not done in years), but she rushed me off of the phone and said that she would talk with me later. Shortly after I hung up from talking to her, Paul called. This time he sounded a little better. He told me that he was looking for the church he was going to and was having problems finding it. We talked for a little while longer and all of a sudden he said that he had found it and would call me once the service was over. I figured I would get comfortable and take a quick nap until I heard back from him.
While lying on the couch in my flannel pajama bottoms and faded tank top that I've had since the late 90's, I begin to doze off to sleep. All of a sudden my doorbell rings. I'm thinking to myself..."Who on earth could this be." I reluctantly get up and go to the door. I asked "Who is It?"....no response. I ask again "Who is it?"...still no response. At this point I'm getting paranoid so I look at of my window to see what in the heck is going on and I see the side of Paul's car parked in my driveway. I immediately breathe a sigh of relief. I'm overcome with anticipation and excitement about seeing Paul, but feel a little embarrassed at how bad I was looking. As I open the door I don't see him, but sitting on my doorstep is the most beautiful and radiant ring that I've ever seen. My heart skipped at least 4 beats and my body becomes numb. I then exclaim "Paul! Paul! What is this??" Paul steps from around the side of the house and says "What does it look like?" I then burst into a series of 6-7 OMIGOSH's and can start to feel the tears well up in my eyes. I didn't know what to expect next. I wanted to run outside and scream out loud, but was too afraid that family and friends were out there waiting to take my picture and I knew I was not looking too picture perfect. After a few moments of trying to calm down I experienced another retarded moment and asked Paul if I was on Candid Camera. After realizing how ridiculous that sounded we both began to laugh. I had so many emotions running through my body that I just didn't know what to do. I then asked him if he had talked to my parents about this to which he responded "Yes Apryl, I just left your parents house!" Finally Paul asked me if I would marry him and be his wife. As he was asking me to be his life partner I felt an instant chill over my body. This was the moment that I had been waiting for my entire life...it was finally happening and I was overjoyed. I immediately said YES! YES! Paul then picked up the ring, placed it on my finger and we embraced, kissed and embraced again. I was ENGAGED to the man of my dreams....WOW! Thanks Paul for making this the happiest day of my life!!
